Work Shadowing 2024
Below are the industry partners who guided our secondary 3 students in work shadowing in the year of 2024:
-
Ng Teng Fong General Hospital
-
To observe allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, pharmacists, dietitians, and podiatrists in action.
-
“I have learnt the use of robots in medical field. It's used to deliver foods to the patients who have been admitted at their wards. I learnt that pharmacy is much deeper than what I thought it was. I used to think that it was just about taking the medication, packing it and giving to the patients but I found out they also play an important role to check if the medication is suitable for patients by checking on a few things such as the medication they were taking previously and that if it would affect the current prescribed medication. They will let the doctors know if there is any need to change the medication or dosages given. I have also learnt that dietitian do not just check the dietary intake of patients, but some are also involved in researching food supplements to help the patients.”- Khaleel Ahmed Afiya Mariam (3 Opal)
2. Far East Flora
-
To learn more about floral, horticulture and business industry through observation of customer service, cashiering, packing and sales of flowers and plants.
“It was an eye-opener for me. I thought being a florist was just learning how to pack and make bouquets but it’s so much more! I learnt about the science behind the coloured flowers and how to prepare a bouquet by myself!” - Soh Xin Yu Joey (3 Topaz)
3. Sunflower Preschool @ West Terra
-
Get insight into early childhood education and care through hands-on activities such as assist with food distribution and participate in story-telling sessions with young children.
-
“Three things that I have learnt through this work shadowing experience is that firstly patience and adaptability, working with young children requires a lot of patience as they may not always follow instructions immediately. I also learned to adapt to each child's unique personality and needs, which helped me to understand the importance of flexibility in early childhood education. I also learned the significance of a structured environment, as I observed that a well-organized routine helps the children to be more focused, which helps the children's development and behaviour in a positive way, through the carefully planned activities.” – Khairunnisa Bte Abdul Rahman (3 Emerald)
-
Make the Change
-
To learn about social entrepreneurship through project planning and business plan presentation.
“I learnt about the different types of social enterprises and what inspires them to start-up. It was fun to interact with students from other school as well.” - Loi Sheng Kang Jayden (3 Amber)
-
REACH Youth Powerhouse @ Bt Batok

Discover the role of social workers and the impact of their work in the community.
“I learnt the purpose of REACH Youth Powerhouse and I have more understanding of why they want to provide space for the youth and most importantly, I have learnt a lot of values that will be useful for myself in the future. After interacting with the youth, they also taught me to be a better person as well! We tried to play game with them so that they would share with us more about themselves. We had hands-on art session that we made bracelets and ethnic fans for the staff team-bonding event. We designed the accessories, and we enjoyed ourselves there!”- Felicia Wong Chu Han (3 Sapphire)
